Apple Programmer's Workshop

Apple Computer released the Apple IIGS in the early 1980's. The one critical piece of software they needed, of course, was a set of development tools so other programmers could write software for the new computer. I was selected to write APW because of the success and power of ORCA/M, my macro assembler for the 8 bit Apple II computer.

Working in strict secrecy, my company got the first Apple IIGS to leave Apple Computer itself and worked feverishly to deliver the tools Apple needed. Due in large part to our efforts, software developers had the tools they needed to make the Apple IIGS one of the most popular computers in K-8 and the home market during the mid 1980's.
